OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO)

Overview

Upon completion of the OSSA BSO program, a worker can present their credential to participating Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Owner Member sites (CNRL, Albian Sands, Suncor, and Syncrude) as proof of completing the orientation.

The course is an Instructor led interactive classroom program. The material is based on the OSSA Regional Safety Rules, including the 7 Life Saving Rules. The learning objective is to provide participants with a general awareness of safety initiatives.

This course is intended for engineers who work in fall protection and need to design or evaluate systems in accordance with CSA Z259.16 "Design of Active Fall Protection Systems" or ANSI Z359.6.

Overview

The Competent Person training enables the attendee to be responsible for the immediate supervision, implementation, and monitoring of a managed fall protection program. A certificate will be issued recognizing that you have completed the training required to meet OSHA and ANSI requirements as a Competent Person and Competent Inspector.
